[ A week had passed since Erik and Wanda had dinner and read to Kira and Nic. He'd been over to visit them at their home a few times during the week, just brief check ins to see how they were doing. They'd been reading to each other from the book Wanda had given Kira; and he'd noticed subtle positive changes in their overall demeanor and the way they'd communicate. Nic was a little less shy, Kira a little more talkative. Slow progress, but still progress.
Everything was going fairly well.
As a result, Erik's thoughts frequently traveled back to the conversation he had with Wanda about looking into his memories. Letting someone into his mind was not something he took lightly. So he took the time to really think about it. Each time he did, his conflicting emotions gradually became less intense. The idea of it seemed less daunting. Much that had to do with the time he'd spent around Wanda and the children; it helped him feel more comfortable, to extend more of his trust - which had always been a difficult thing to do.
Eventually, he'd reached a point where he felt certain enough to seek her out and ask; provided she wasn't already occupied with something.
It was around late afternoon when he knocked at her door; after having just returned from a quick perimeter scan of the island. They had people who's sole job was to keep watch for any intrusions, disturbances, or unwanted visitors; but Erik still made it a point to do so every day. It made him sleep easier to see for himself that all was safe. Especially right now, with what he was about to potentially do. ]
